Attendance - Who should I contact if my child is unwell.

Absence

We take your child's attendance at school very seriously and encourage you to call school before 9:00am if your child is unwell and won't be attending school on 0114 4798000.

We appreciate your support in helping to prevent the spread of illness. If your child shows symptoms of sickness and/or diarrhoea please keep your child off school for 48 hours after their last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.

If your child is prescribed antibiotics for an illness which could be passed onto others, they will need to be off school for a minimum of 48 hours from the first dose of antibiotics being administered.

If your child has difficulties in attending school we will engage with the family to support you by home visits and attendance plans. We also use parent/carer support plans if your child’s attendance becomes problematic.

As with all schools we are unable to sanction a family holiday in school term time. Please complete and return a holiday request form from reception if your child will be absent from school.

If your child is unexpectedly absent and we have not received a telephone call by 9:00am, we will endeavour to ring the parent/ carer in order to ascertain the child’s whereabouts.

If you are struggling with your child attending school please speak to your child's key worker so that we are able to help you and your child solve any issues that may have occurred.

Medical and Dental Appointments

We understand our children may need medical appointments from time to time and we ask that any appointment are made as early or late in the day so there is minimum disruption to learning as possible.

Please see our Attendance Policy for further information.
