Our Vision

Discovery Academy is a specialist school for autistic students aged 7 to 16 (Year 3 to Year 11). We provide a calm, structured and highly relational environment where every young person is understood, valued and supported to thrive.

Our Ethos
Kindness, care and self‑belief sit at the heart of everything we do. We know that many of our students have faced challenges in their educational journey before joining us. At Discovery, we rebuild trust, nurture confidence and create the conditions where learning feels safe, joyful and meaningful.
Students learn in immersive, highly engaging environments where they can explore, create and take ownership of their world. Often, they are so absorbed in purposeful activity that they don’t even realise how much they are learning.

How We Teach
We believe that learning happens best when students feel safe, secure and stimulated. Our approach blends:
•     Challenge‑based learning, rooted in play and exploration
•     Developmentally informed practice, meeting students at their stage, not just their age
•     Expert adaptation, ensuring every learner can access the curriculum
•     Predictable routines, which help students feel calm and confident
This approach reflects what Ofsted recognised in 2025: strong relationships, high levels of engagement, and a curriculum that helps pupils re‑engage positively with education.

Working Together
We truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Families are our partners, and we work side‑by‑side to ensure every young person has the skills, confidence and independence they need for a fulfilling adult life.
Our staff team is highly skilled, compassionate and relentless in their commitment to each student. We listen carefully to families, respond quickly to need, and act as the “relentless family champions” that our community deserves.

Our Promise
We will ensure that every young person leaves Discovery Academy as a well‑rounded, confident individual who is ready for their next stage in life. We want our students to believe in themselves, to see their strengths, and to know that their future is full of possibility.
Dreamers. Believers. Achievers.
